As part of a new series, every 2 weeks starting from September you can join in scrap booking with me to create your very own scrapbook from scratch! In part one we will be making the base book and every part from here onwards we will be making unique decoration, pull outs and movable parts for one to two pages.
Let’s get started! You will need:
-thick a4 card (I am using brown kraft card from docrafts which is 280gsm)
-glue (I am using a docrafts stickit glue pen but pva or double sided tape is fine)
-metal rings which can open and close
-decorative paper or card (I am using craft sensations 12×12 “Lovely Mystery”)
-holepunch
We will start by cutting 5 a4 pages to size. I will cut each sheet to around 21×14.5cm.
Once this is done we will need to use a holepunch to create the holes for our metal loops. I am making this landscape but you can do this portrait if you prefer just be aware that later tutorials may need some adapting to fit portrait. We don’t need to put the rings in yet as the next step requires a flat surface for gluing the decorative paper.

Next we will cut 20 sheets of decorative paper down to size. From a 12×12 inch pad I could get two sheets from each but don’t throw anything away as we can use the excess for decoration later! I have cut each sheet to 18.5x14cm

Each decorative sheet will now be glued on. Use the far side to judge layout rather than the hole punched size as we will be leaving a gap this side creating a nice border. Leave around 2mm around the remaining three edges. If you are using double sided tape you will need to be a lot more precise as you cannot move the paper once it’s stuck. With glue you can move the paper around slightly.

This is it for part one! You should now have a a5 landscape scrapbook with decorative paper on every side. Get ready for a couple of weeks time where you will be making your first decorative elements. You have lots of unique ideas to look forward to which you can make from scratch! Hopefully see you soon 🙂
